I hold special quotations and scriptures in my heart. I love to visit my Haven and imagine
myself on the sailboat out in the lake looking up at the mountains. I will be adding
to this journal so visit again.

I believe in Christianity as I believe that the Sun has risen: not only because
I see it, but because by it I see everything else.
(C.S. Lewis)

If we make a quietness within ourselves, if we silence all desire and opinions
and if with love, without formulating any words, we bind our whole soul to think
"Thy will be done," the thing which after that we feel sure we should do....
....is the will of God.
(Simone Weil)

We become truly personal by loving God and by loving other humans. In its
deepest sense, love is the life, the energy, of the Creator in us.
(Kallistos Ware)

Our vision is so limited we can hardly imagine a love that does not show itself
in protection from suffering...
The love of God did not protect His own Son...He will not necessarily protect us..not
from anything it takes to make us like His Son. A lot of hammering and chiseling and
purifying by fire will have to go into the process.
God is God. Because He is God, He is worthy of my trust and obedience. I will find rest
nowhere but in His holy will, a will that is unspeakably beyond my largest notions of
what He is up to.
(Elisabeth Elliot)

Keep praying, but be thankful that God's answers are wiser than your prayers!
(William Culbertson)

"Defending the Bible is like defending a lion."
(Charles Spurgeon)

"We can make our heart a chapel where we can go anytime to talk to God in that
continuous communion with God. Don't do this in expectation of receiving heavenly
comforts; simply do it out of love for Him."
(Brother Lawrence, from The Practice of the Presence of God)
